Discover Notre-Dame’s musical series, Music O’Clock and reconnect with classical music or jazz. All proceeds go to the Restoration Project, a long term endeavor managed by the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal Foundation.
Pianist Chloé Dumoulin and cellist Gabriel Francis-Dehqani form a promising young duo whose playing combines refinement, vitality, and a keen sense of communication. They will launch their collaboration in 2024 with a tour of ten Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen. Brought together by a shared passion for chamber music, their partnership is marked by an instinctive musical rapport and a spirit of adventure in their programming.
They love performing the great classics of the cello and piano repertoire, while introducing audiences to lesser-known gems and new commissions. They have performed together in Asia, Europe, and North America, showcasing their artistic talent and curiosity to international audiences, and continue to expand their reach through collaborations, festival appearances, and future recording projects.
The popularity of the voice-and-guitar repertoire is nothing new! This musical journey invites you to rediscover the treasures of the European repertoire in their most intimate form: voice and guitar.
From the French grace of courtly airs to the English melancholy of lute songs, from the sunny rhythms of Spain to the sweetness of Italian ariettas and German Romanticism, soprano Marie Magistry and her collaborator Marc Deschênes weave an intimate and expressive dialogue. A timeless moment that will immerse you in the intimacy of the salons of another era.
Under the direction of jazz guitarist Jonathan Ethier, the Jonathan Ethier Trio elegantly revisits great standards, swing, and Latin rhythms, while adding a modern touch to more recent pieces. The trio features Marcin Garbulinski on double bass and Éric Thibodeau on drums, forming a rhythm section that is both flexible and powerful. Together, they create a vibrant atmosphere where virtuosity and the joy of playing come together.
