Flight of bells

At the invitation of the Archbishop of Montréal, who wishes to send a message of hope to as many people as possible, Notre-Dame Basilica will join the churches of the city and ring its bells this Sunday for ten minutes from noon, as well as the following Sundays until Easter. It will also ring its big bumblebee on Good Friday, April 10, at 3:00 pm.

In this Lenten season, this initiative is a way of demonstrating our solidarity and fraternity with individuals and families, especially the most vulnerable, with the sick and their loved ones, as well as celebrating the dedication of the health personnel and all those who care for the safety and well-being of our city.

This "flight of bells" is intended as a symbol of the hope and solidarity of the Church towards society and the city, thinking of Montréal which, at one time, was nicknamed "the city of a hundred steeples".

May the sound of the bells remind us that God loves us, that Christ is alive and that he wants us to be LIVING!
